The Seychelles tourism industry is mourning the passing of Mickey Mason, co-founder of Mason’s Travel and a respected entrepreneur, conservationist and pioneer of the country’s tourism sector.
For more than five decades, Mason played an important role in the development of Seychelles, building businesses that created opportunities for local communities and supported the country’s economic growth. Together with his wife, Kathy, he established ventures across multiple industries, with a strong commitment to local ownership and sustainability.
Mason was particularly passionate about conservation and sustainable agriculture. On Denis Private Island, where he and Kathy made their home, he championed habitat restoration, wildlife conservation and sustainable farming, helping establish the island as a model for responsible tourism.
Remembered for his entrepreneurial vision, generosity, sense of humour and deep love for Seychelles, Mason leaves a lasting legacy in the country’s tourism industry and beyond.
APTA extends its sincere condolences to the Mason family, the team at Mason’s Travel and the wider Seychelles tourism community.
