The US Department of State raised its travel advisory for Kenya from Level 2 to Level 3 (“Reconsider Travel”) on October 19, 2026, citing health risks related to Ebola. The updated advisory also identifies crime, kidnapping, terrorism, civil unrest, and traffic safety concerns, with Level 4 (“Do Not Travel”) warnings applying to specific areas.
As of October 20, Kenyan health authorities had confirmed nine Ebola cases, all linked to a single cluster in Nairobi, with no evidence of wider community transmission. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 1 (“Practice Usual Precautions”) travel health notice for Kenya.
Other major source markets, including the UK, continue to apply geographically targeted travel warnings rather than a nationwide recommendation to reconsider travel.
