At Nature Expeditions Africa, we have expanded our safari planning services to include flexible pre- and post-conference extensions for international delegates, exhibitors, investors and business travellers visiting Kenya.
We developed this planning approach in response to a question we increasingly encounter: how can someone experience Kenya when their main reason for travelling is a conference or business event and they only have a few free days?
Kenya’s meetings and conference calendar continues to demonstrate the importance of this travel segment. Earlier in 2026, the 11th Our Ocean Conference in Mombasa welcomed more than 7,500 delegates. More recently, The Hotel Expo Kenya brought hospitality professionals, accommodation operators, technology providers and industry stakeholders together at KICC from 19–21 August.
Following our attendance in The Hotel Expo Kenya, we are placing greater focus on helping business visitors add a suitable Kenya experience before returning home.
Planning around the time travellers actually have
Rather than assuming that every visitor has time for a conventional week-long safari, we plan each extension around confirmed conference dates, hotel locations, airport transfers and international flight schedules.
For travellers with one free day, we can plan a Nairobi-based wildlife and cultural experience that fits comfortably within their city stay.
For those with two or three nights available, we can consider road-based extensions to destinations such as Amboseli, Lake Naivasha or Lake Nakuru. We select the route according to the season, the traveller’s interests, accommodation availability and the time required to return comfortably to Nairobi.
Where schedules permit, we can also plan a longer pre- or post-conference extension to the Maasai Mara by road or air. Our priority is to match the destination to the time genuinely available rather than compressing an unrealistic itinerary into a narrow window.
Connecting destination discovery with practical planning
Our Kenya Parks & Safaris platform supports the early discovery stage by bringing together information on Kenya’s national parks, reserves, conservancies, accommodation options and safari ideas.
Travellers and tourism partners can use the platform to understand the differences between destinations, identify areas of interest and save preferred options. Our Nature Expeditions Africa team then provides the human and operational support needed to turn that initial interest into a realistic itinerary.
We coordinate transport, accommodation and safari logistics around each traveller’s existing commitments. This is particularly important for conference visitors who may be working with fixed event programmes, limited free time and non-flexible international flights.
We have been planning Kenya safaris since 1994. This new focus allows us to apply that experience to a growing group of visitors who may come to Kenya primarily for business but would still like an opportunity to experience the country beyond their conference venue.
For us, the objective is simple: to help more business travellers leave Kenya with a meaningful understanding of its wildlife, landscapes and wider tourism offering.
